The Princess Galyani Vadhana International Music Festival (PGMF) was inaugurated in 2020 by the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music. Its first edition was themed 'Classical Music Next Normal', reflecting the challenges that classical musicians faced during and will face post COVID-19. The festival was not just an opportunity to celebrate the beauty and power of classical music, but also a platform to inspire and support musicians as they navigated the new normal.
One of the key features of the PGMF is the Guest Artists Performances, which provide not only entertainment but also inspiration to the Thai audience and young generation classical musicians. The festival also includes the Call for Artists Competition (formerly known as Performance and Promotion Competition), which aims to be a platform for the next generation of classical musicians to showcase their artistry through creative performance as well as to raise their awareness in project writing, public relations, and creating a fanbase.
In addition to these performances, the PGMF also includes the "Business Model Pitching Competition", which is a platform for finding business models that can make classical music in Thailand accessible and sustainable. This competition recognizes the importance of making classical music a viable and sustainable industry in Thailand, and seeks to find innovative solutions to these challenges.
