“What is ‘Red’ and why must it be?”
Mozart in Red | Presented by Muralist Ensemble
In our upcoming performance art piece, we do not merely perform Mozart, we investigate his process of creation. Guided by the lens of John Logan’s Red, we treat Mozart as our point of departure toward a contemporary identity. Using Mozart’s standard repertoire as a foundation, we have deconstructed and rearranged works like the Violin Sonata in E minor and the 12 Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" to mirror an artist’s struggle towards self-definition.
What lies within this "Red"? Why is it a necessity for the artist? We invite you to find your own answers within the mix of electro-acoustic music, staged monologue, and visual art.
